Activity 2: Overcoming Adversity

When I came to NZ from Nepal for the first time, I was 4 years old and my English wasn't very good. I didn't get outside much, so I didn't have a chance to talk to other people and practice English. I started School. It was difficult for me to understand all the things what teachers said and friend spoke about. My mum used to stay with me for a few hours at my school for translation to me.  One teacher taught me English for a few months at my school. That really helped me to develop the confidence to speak English. Gradually, my English got better and better. I adjusted to school nicely. I have a best friends and many good friends. I was upgraded to the year 2, 2 months after I started school. Now I am 7 years old and study in year 4. I am the youngest student in senior hub. I have won many awards in my school.

Activity 1: Through Careful Observation

In this picture, I can see blackbirds and white birds if you look at the dark side you can see the white birds. But if you look at the white side you can see the blackbirds. On each side, the houses and people are all in the same place but just opposite colors. If you look at the fields under the birds they look a bit like the birds but slowly fade into the fields. On both sides, there are 4 boats and a bridge.

Activity 3: Hidden Figures

Code .org is really cool. The link took me to this game. I drew different shapes. I think Code .org is cool but also hard which gets your brain to work!

Once, some of my friends and I found a bird on the ground when we were coming back from swimming lessons. I brought my noodles cup with me to the spot we last saw the bird THANK GOODNESS IT WAS STILL THERE Then I put it in the noodles can and went to one of the teachers. She said it's dead. I thought it would be nice if It gets buried. I named that bird noodles! I buried it in the backyard of the school and put lots of flowers above it. I replace the flowers almost  every month. It makes me feel good about the bird. My teacher and friends said that it was a good idea to bury the dead bird.

Activity 2: The Right to an Education

Once upon a time, there were two best friends -Carol and Sarah. Once when they were driving, Carol said to Sarah "Promise you'll always be my BFFL and never leave me alone". Then Sarah replied, "of course you're my BFFL". Then suddenly they heard the beep. A truck was right in front of them. Then they crashed!!!! Weeks later when Carol woke up from a coma, she rushed up to the nearest doctor and asked why she is in the hospital. The doctor said she'd got a really bad injury. No one managed to survived except her. Carol burst into tears as she lost her BFFL. Carol has been feeling heavy in her soldiers like someone was sitting there but whenever she was looking in the mirror, she could not see anyone or anything. She got an x-ray of her shoulder but there was nothing wrong but her weight was equal to her own weight plus Sara's weight. She was surprised!!
It was a day after the party and then she was having really fun but Carol's shoulder still hurt a lot. It was photo time and then after taking the photo, people noted that Sarah was sitting in Carol's soldiers. That really gave Carol the Goosebumps!!!!!

Activity 3: “I Have a Dream”

At a young age, Rosa park's parents divorced. After the divorce, rosa and her mother moved to pine level Alabama, where they stayed with rosa's grandparents. While living with her grandparents, Rosa saw lots of Americans treating African Americans badly. But it also taught her how to be strong! Such as, one day her grandfather protected their farm from a group of men called the Ku Klux klan. The Ku Klux Klan was known for killing African Americans. At school, things were not fair either as a child. The schools she went to were segregated, that meant that African American students were not allowed to go to school with white students. She loved school but stopped school in 11th grade to help her sick mother. On December 1st, 1955 the local busses were also segregated! The whites would be in front of the bus and the African Americans will go at the front of the bus to pay but then leave the bus to go to the back of the bus. One day the bus driver told her to move so that one of the white customers could have her seat. After thinking about what the bus driver had said rosa was tired of being treated unfairly so she said NO! After that, the bus driver got her arrested!! That made a lot of people mad! Then the people both refused to go on buses to move around town. The boycott lasted several months and when the busses sat empty the city had to do something! The boycott ended on December 20, 1956, after the supreme court said they couldn't treat African American's differently.
